The new year is the best time for transformation; it’s a time to reflect on the past with gratitude, but the most exciting part is to let yourself dream about what's ahead. As young women, we want to become the best versions of ourselves we can be. Milk and Honey Magazine has developed three keys for transformation in 2017. It's time to embark on new journeys and shape our lives into exactly the women we want to be!
Start with transforming that beautiful MIND of yours. True transformation happens when we know God's truth over the worlds truth. We learn His truth by sticking our heads in the Word and reading the Bible. The world will say you are worthy if you are beautiful, successful, rich, thin... (there is always an if). On the contrary, God says "you are fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). There is no “if” in that statement; He says we are worthy because we are His.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will.” -Romans 12:2
If you want to change a habit, start by ADDING a healthy habit first. My preascher once put it this way: If you have a pitcher of dirty H2O and you want to clear out the water, all you have to do is keep adding fresh water until all the dirty water overflows. What remains is crystal clear!
A friend of mine, a grad student at JFK University, gave this example: Say you eat ice cream every night with your best friend, lover, mom, or whoever. Instead of telling them to take away the ice cream, tell them to add berries on top of the ice cream. Slowly but surely, you’ll find that they will be adding more and more berries and less and less ice cream, until one day you’ll find they feel so good they eventually end up eating the berries alone.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” -Romans 12:21
Disclosure: I’m not calling ice cream evil (don't worry)! It was just used in the example for healthier habits!
You will know what His anointing is because it brings the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Follow these spirit lifters and life changers - they're the yellow brick road! Above all, remember He can do far more through us for His glory than we can imagine.
“Glory to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” -Ephesians 3:20
